I don't typically consider myself a superfan. I try not to get overexcited when I see stars. I get really self conscious. One time, Will Ferrel walked past me and I tried so hard to act normal that I ran into a glass door. It's bad.
I should also say that my favorite star is Emma Stone. She is my #1 celebrity crush. I have loved her work since Superbad. Since Zombieland. Since Easy A, she has held the key to my heart.
One more thing before I get to the story: I was in the musical Cabaret in high school. It is a beautiful show. If you haven't seen it, stop reading this blog post right now and go buy a ticket to a production of it. Or watch the movie!
For my birthday this year, I was fortunate enough to receive a ticket to the Broadway production of Cabaret. Starring EMMA STONE. And it was her last show. EVER. So on February 14th, while everyone else was flying into the arms of their significant others, I was flying across the country to my destiny: Meeting Emma Stone after she played the leading lady in one of my favorite musicals.
I was, I'll admit, a bit worried to see the show. Emma Stone is not known for her singing, and I was afraid that she wouldn't fill my expectations. I was worried she's be a bit out of tune, or her acting wouldn't fit the style of theatre since she's done so much film work. I needn't have worried.
It. Was. Transcendent. "Life is a Cabaret" was phenomenal. I was dazzled. It was beautiful, heartbreaking, exquisite, tragic, and magical. I will readily admit I am a superman. And after the show, I waited 30 minutes in negative temperatures to meet Emma Stone and have her sign my playbill. So I guess I'm a bit of a superfan after all.
